Guest Podcast Appearance: Creating a Successful Life with Dr. Julie Hanks

I was honored to sit down with Camille Walker, host of the Call Me CEO podcast, and have a conversation about building a business and family that you love. Listen as we chat about how I decided to pursue my education and career in therapy, how my family delegated household tasks when my children were young, and how I’ve worked to overcome the shame and guilt that mothers often feel when pursuing work outside the home.

During our time together, I share the story of a time when overwhelm was very present in my life. My music career was going well, my therapy practice was growing, and my family had grown as my husband and I welcomed new children into our home. Everything looked perfect on paper, but I felt so overwhelmed.

I know many women feel this way: undersupported and overwhelmed with the expectation that they do both paid and unpaid work. And the expectation isn’t the same for their male counterparts; men aren’t expected to do the unpaid work required at home in the same way women are.
